Staples’ Employees Choose a Charity and Change Lives

Employees in 22 countries help to support organizations worldwide

Staples International recently announced the charity recipients of 25 grants funded by the Staples Foundation, the charitable arm of the US-based office supplies retailer. The grants, totaling $100,000, will be awarded to the 2011 recipients of Staples’ Choose a Charity program, designed to give Staples associates across Europe, South America, Asia, and Australia the opportunity to select an organization to receive funding.

The 2011 Choose a Charity program generated more than  4,000 votes worldwide from Staples associates and customers across 22 countries.

“This program not only reflects Staples’ commitment to supporting deserving organizations around the world, but it demonstrates the dedication of our associates and customers to support charities that are making an impact,” said Katy Dobbs, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Staples International. “Community and employee engagement is firmly part of our global company culture, and we’re very pleased to have this chance to put corporate giving opportunities in the hands of our employees.”

The Choose a Charity Program is just one example of Staples’ commitment to the communities in which their employees live and work, and is part of their overall approach to corporate social responsibility.
