STAPLES UK BOSS MAKES LIFE EASY FOR CITY TOUR GUIDES

Staples newsStaples news

The Mayor of Bath’s team of volunteer Honorary tour guides took delivery of an early Christmas present this week - after the head of Staples UK personally kitted them out with a set of sparkling new stationery.

The office supplies expert’s UK managing director Amee Chande was compelled to act after spotting the volunteer guides were working from less-than-elegant folders while she was on a sight-seeing tour of the city’s fine architectural sites.

Amee said: “The tour guides were so professional and knowledgeable and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour.  But it’s in my DNA to check out people’s stationery – and I couldn’t help notice that their folders were looking worse for wear.

“I wanted to express my gratitude for the wonderful experience that these people provide in their own time, by sending the whole team a new a set of binders and equipment that better reflect the incredible work they do.”

The 70-strong team of guides conduct tours around city sites free of charge to visitors, day in, day out. More than 36,000 people join these comprehensive two-hour walking tours every year, but funding is very limited and the guides’ equipment had suffered over the years.

Amee, who is exploring the UK after taking the helm at Staples UK from her post in the US, made sure there were more than enough brand new scratch-proof, water-proof Staples Better Binders for each volunteer, plus water-proof punch pockets so they could protect maps and notes from the elements.

She also included a voucher so that the tour guides could re-print or copy their information at Staples’ Copy & Print Centre.

Chairman of the Mayor of Bath’s Corps of Honorary Guides, Matthew Clements said: “What a lovely gesture. We love it that Amee wanted to do something for us.  We run free daily tours and our guides are all volunteers with a tiny budget, there’s no spare cash for luxuries like new folders! We usually just have to make do!

“These look absolutely brilliant, they are delighted!”
