It is also backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports and requires no external power, you simply need to plug it in to begin using.

The hard drive comes with Green Button energy saving software that will suspend the hard drive from spinning when not in use. This helps to increase the efficiency of this hard drive while also saving energy. The 3 lsquo;Sleep Setting’ options allow you to put it into suspend mode after 10 minutes use which can be increased in increments of 10 minutes to 120 minutes.

Alternatively, set the drive to suspend immediately by double clicking the Green Button icon on your desktop or finally, set it to never suspend. This drive has been formatted in NTFS which means that it is compatible for Windows. If you have a Mac however, you will need to format this drive to HFS+ to allow it to be compatible. This formatting can be applied by using the Verbatim VHD Formatter on the drive.

Please note that Nero Backup Software is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10 but is not compatible with Mac OS.
