17th January 2024

We all know that January is the month where we all start our new year’s resolutions, whether that be limiting the amount of chocolate bars we eat every week or pushing ourselves to sign up for a gym membership. There is no doubt that most of our new year’s resolutions involve making more healthier decisions, that’s why in this article, we will primarily be focusing on how you can stick to your dietary plans through healthy snacks.

When we create our new year’s resolutions, most of us tend to set plans to lose all the Christmas weight we’ve managed to put on from eating the big roast dinners, to dipping into the box of Quality Streets. It’s only natural for us to have a little bit extra, especially when its Christmas time! Then, the New Year hits and we start our resolution, we set plans to minimise our portions, we start to make healthier choices. A few weeks passed and we feel good that we’ve managed to stick to our plans but suddenly, the cravings begin to creep in. How do we stop this? Do we ignore them? Well, we are no experts, but we can provide you with all the information on the healthy snacks we would recommend.

How to Deal with Cravings?

Eat Snacks with High Nutrients

So, the cravings are starting to kick in, what do we do? Healthline suggests eating higher in protein foods as it can help you to feel satisfied for longer. Now we all know the most common sources of protein like red meat, fish, poultry which usually form the basis for our main meals so we can’t really use them as snacks! However, we are here to help, some of our personal favourite high in protein snacks include the Graze Sweet Chilli Crunch Punnet and the Graze Salt Pepper Veggie Protein Power Punnet. The Sweet Chilli Punnet is infused with Garlic, Paprika, Tomato and obviously Chilli powder to give it a taste which will satisfy any craving. The Salt Pepper and Veggie Punnet is the perfect protein snack for anyone who’s starting to adopt more of a vegetarian or vegan diet.

Protein is not the only nutrient to have the power to supress your appetite, according to the British Nutrition Foundation, a healthier diet will usually contain more fibre due to the consumption of foods like nuts, wholegrains, plus the traditional fruit and veg. Studies have also suggested that eating a high in fibre diet can be beneficial for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and bowel cancer. We recommend that when the cravings hit and you need an on the go snack, then you should try our Graze Cocoa Flapjack Punnet or if you want something with a zesty flavour then you can try our Graze Lively Lemon Flapjack Punnet. Not only is Graze’s Flapjacks full of fibre but they are also very high in a nutrient called manganese which is brilliant for supporting and strengthening the bones. Moreover, manganese is seen as one of the most effective nutrients at reducing blood sugar levels and therefore helps reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Other Healthier Alternatives

In this article so far, we have primarily focused on the Graze range of snacks which are perfect for maintaining a balanced diet and reducing them hunger clenching cravings which we all face daily. Most of us reduce the amount of processed sugar that we consume, so if you have a sweet tooth, then why not try snacking on foods that contain natural sugars such as Apples, Strawberries, Pineapples. Switching to alternative sources of sugar does not have to apply to snacking, it can also account for drinks like coffee, where most people will add either brown or white sugar. Why not try adding honey or maple syrup to sweeten up your daily coffee.

For those of you embracing a gluten-free lifestyle, fret no more! Ditch the magnifying glass and label-deciphering headaches; your perfect, portable snack has arrived. We recommend you try the Nakd Gluten-Free Snack Bar, a guilt-free indulgence crafted entirely from nature’s bounty. Forget sugar-laden imposters – these treats come in three mouthwatering flavours (Bakewell Tart, Cocoa Delight, and Salted Caramel) powered by fruits and nuts. So go ahead, indulge your cravings without compromising your dietary choices. Nakd bars: where delicious meets wholesome, and gluten gets happily left behind.
